Assault: Anambra govt. suspends operation of waste management film

Anambra government has suspended the activities of Salitz International Ventures, a waste management company over an alleged assault on Mr Akaneme Okechukwu, former President of the Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ONICCIMA).
This is contained in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Anambra Ministry of Environment, Tochukwu Obodogha, for the Commissioner, Mr Felix Odumegwu, and made available to journalists on Tuesday in Onitsha

According to him, the suspension is in light of the recent compelling viral reports concerning an unfortunate incident involving Mr Okechukwu, former Onitsha ONICCIMA president, who was brutally assaulted and injured by operatives of the waste management, on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024.
“I wish to inform you that Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA) has been directed to temporarily suspend your waste management operating license, pending the outcome of the investigation.
“The ministry of environment has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident, consequent to these circumstances, this letter serves to suspend all operations of Salitz International Ventures, with immediate effect, pending the full investigations outcome”, he said.
He further stressed that the state government maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of human rights abuse in discharge of official duties by any of its agents.
