Anambra guber : OECF inaugurates office, endorses Soludo for 2nd tenure

A socio-political organization, Oyi Elders Consultative Forum, OECF, aimed at galvanizing residents of  Oyi for the development of the area  has inaugurated its office adjacent  to Eke Igwe market, Nteje, where members of the forum used the occasion to endorse Governor Chukwuma Soludo for second tenure in office.

Recall that a motion for the endorsement was moved by the Chairman of the council area,  Emma Nweke, who said the endorsement  became neccessa in view of the numerous achievements of the governor and was seconded by an Ogbunike Igweship hopeful, Elochukwu Gwacham.

In his address, the chairman  of OECF, Chidiebele Obika, traced the history of the forum to when it was formed at Osisioma Lodge, Umunya, where it got its name and administrative officers formed.

He disclosed that, “All political parties are represented here, I am of APGA, there are APC, LP, ZLP, , among others. Our membership cuts across the five communities of Oyi council area who have distinguished themselves in various fields of human endeavor and interested in the development of our local government area.

“At her formative years the forum used to meet fortnightly at either Osisioma Lodge or other places where our hosts chose. Presently we are faced with challenges that include, lack of furniture, generator, office equipment and money to pay staff salary.

“We have negotiated for land that will house our permanent secretariat, (#15million), we need a bus that will help in running the office and others and solicit for your support,” he pleaded.

Speaking, the founder and patron of OECF, Chike Obidigbo  who is also the founder of Osisioma Foundation, described OECF as a Non Governmental Organization, NGO, non partisan, socio-cultural body dedicated to fostering discussions on matters of common interest to Oyi community.

“we are no longer in an era where we accept crumbs thrown at us by those who seek to dominate and demean us. The time is past when derogatory language and negative stereotypes-labeling us as mere hewers of wood, drawers of water, or insatiable gulpers of pounded yam with nsala soup and fresh fish, used to define us.

“It is this realization that brought concerned sons and daughters of Oyi together to form the OECF. We must rise from this perceived obscurity, reclaim our voice and assert our rights and privileges. We must do this ourselves, others will define us, often unfairly,” Obidigbo stated.

He expressed satisfaction with the achievements of governor Soludo in three years adding that with these achievements the coast is clear for his second tenure in office.

The inauguration planning committee chairman, Ichie C. Aniegboka, lauded the chairman of OECF for his efforts towards the success of the occasion adding that he lacked words to express his satisfaction.

He added that, “This singular assignment has enabled me to discover some latent potentials in most of our members and I urge them not to relent in their services to God and mankind,” he pleaded.

Earlier in his speech, the Igweship hopeful, Gwacham described Soludo as an achiever who has surpassed successive governments and he is still counting adding that he has no rival come November 8 gubernatorial election.
