Anambra CP. Itam charges CIDs to show competency

The new Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP, Nnaghe Obono Itam, on Monday, reviewed the modus operandi of the State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, and charged them to show competency in discharging their duties.
CP. Itam made this known in a statement signed and issued to newsmen by the state police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Tochukwu Ikenga, (SP).
The Commissioner who equally lectured Police Personnel attached to the Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, Anambra State, said the department is the apex body of investigation in the State.
He noted that when a crime is committed, the department is required to identify the offenders and prosecute the perpetrators.
Itam, also provided guide to the operatives in assessing petitions when they are assigned for investigation, which according to him included, if the case will end in prosecution, help in administrative decisions, as well as resources recovery or otherwise.
He urged the operatives to enhance their investigative skills to turn information during the investigation to intelligence.
It was gathered that the CP has since begun the tour of Area Commands, Divisional Headquarters, and Formations in the Command to assess manpower deployment, personnel positioning, and physical structure of the building/offices.
He said that with the visit to the Area Command Aguata Headquarters, Aguata Divisional Headquarters, Umunze Divisional Headquarters, Joint Operation Base headed by the Police Aguata, among others .
The new commissioner of police, however assured Ndi Anambra the best Policing experience under his watch.
