Again, suspected armed herders kill 2, injure 3 in Benue

Armed  herdsmen militia have reportedly attacked Mgbaan community in Guma Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue state killing two persons and injured three others.

It was gathered  that the suspected armed herders equally tortured a lady whom they attempted to kidnap but mother luck smile on her as they escaped. 

Mgbaan is a community located between Daudu and Yelwata settlements, along Makurdi-Lafia highway, in Nyiev Council Ward of, Guma LGA.

A local from the area who spoke on condition of anonymity , told correspondent in Makurdi on Sunday that the attack took place at the early hours of Sunday, August 3, 2025.

He explained that  the Executive Chairman of Guma LGC and Benue ALGON Chairman, Maurice Orwough, visited the scene of the incident.

 The local gave the name of the two victims to include; Terkimbir Iorhen Igbawua and Mlumun Igbawua.

When contacted the council chairman, Orwough evacuated the victims from the scene and urged the security operatives to enforce full operations. 

He also took the tortured lady who regained freedom from her abductors to the hospital for medical  treatment.

The council chairman also directed the Local Government Security  Secretary to release funds for the burial of the victims slated for tomorrow.

The chairman who reiterated his promise to prioritize the security and safety of the people, assured the people that in no distance time, the crises would be a thing of the past.
