Adamawa Govt approves sale of 1,000 Housing Units to Civil Servants

The Adamawa State Government has taken a significant step towards addressing the housing needs of its civil servants by approving the sale of 1,000 housing units at the State Housing Estate, Malkohi, Yola South Local Government Area.

 This development is part of the government’s efforts to provide affordable housing to low- and middle-income earners in the state.

– 2-bedroom flats: ₦9,706,195.47, 3-bedroom flats: ₦11,708,194.59

The state government has also approved additional facilities beyond the original master plan, including:

– Perimeter fencing of the estate

– Security outposts and a barracks

– Modern drainage systems

The Adamawa State Mortgage Bank is seeking funding support from the Family Homes Fund and the Federal Mortgage Bank to enable civil servants to purchase these homes.

This arrangement will allow workers to domicile their salaries with the bank and make flexible monthly payments.

The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Adamu prambe, assured that the allocation process will be transparent and fair. 

Offer letters will be distributed soon to beneficiaries as directed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

Nyalas Batholomew, a labour union representative, commended Governor Fintiri for prioritizing workers’ welfare.

He emphasized that affordability analysis was central to the allocation process, adding that any worker who can afford the scheme will be given the opportunity to own a home.

The construction of the 1,000 housing units was initially approved in 2020 with a budget of ₦4.892 billion. 

The project is part of the government’s efforts to address the housing deficit in the state and provide decent and affordable homes for low- and middle-income families.
