Adamawa Gov. Fintiri pledges Commitment to Workers’ Welfare

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with workers for the growth and development of the state. This pledge was made during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), led by Emmanuel Fashe, to the Government House in Yola.

The governor highlighted several initiatives that have benefited workers and citizens in the state, including Payment of N70,000 Minimum Wage*: Governor Fintiri’s administration has implemented the payment of the N70,000 national minimum wage to workers on both state and local government payrolls.

The state government has approved the recruitment of 12,000 workers across key sectors, including education, healthcare, and civil service.

The governor mentioned a 60% housing initiative, aimed at providing affordable housing options for workers.

Funds have been released for the payment of gratuity to retired civil servants.

Governor Fintiri also emphasized the need for a contributory pension scheme to address the backlog of arrears for pensioners in the state. This initiative aims to provide a permanent solution to the challenges faced by pensioners and ensure their financial security.

Emmanuel Fashe, State Chairman of the NLC, expressed appreciation for the governor’s policies, which have favored civil servants. He described Governor Fintiri as a “messiah” to workers in Adamawa State, citing his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare and development.
