Group blast Emeka Kalu over alleged desperate sycophancy

The Concerned Citizens of old Bende on Monday blasted Emeka Kalu over his alleged political sycophant and desperately seeking relevance in Abia state.

The group made this known in a statement signed by the chairman and the secretary; Chief Edozienna Alaribe and Comrade Chiemaka Nwafor and issued to newsmen in Umuahia, Abia state capital.

The statement reads in part: “We, the Concerned Citizens of Old Bende, rise in full support of the bold and patriotic stance taken by the Old Bende Young Professionals (OBYP). 

“We also categorically reject and condemn in strong terms the desperate antics of Chief Emeka Kalu, whom we now regard as nothing more than a shameless political sycophant desperately seeking relevance. 

“His personal ambition to be supported by Otti to become a senator is obviously beclouding any sense of reasoning, if he has any.

“We reiterate that, Aba is not part of Old Bende Division. An Aba representative has no business speaking on behalf of Old Bende. Therefore, Hon. Alex Ikwuecheghe’s attempt to hijack the voice of a people he neither understands nor represents is both laughable and insulting.

“We ask both Ikwuecheghe and his supporting sycophantic kalu the following: Where exactly was this so-called “Old Bende meeting” held, where Otti’s reelection bid was unanimously adopted? Who convened it? When did it happen?.

“What we saw was nothing more than a farce, a charade and a weak endorsement from spent, expired, and cowardly political relics, men who once enriched themselves at the expense of the rest of old bende people, and now are huddled with handpicked, pocket-first traditional rulers in someone’s parlor without consultation with the rest of old bende people. 

“Where were the true sons and daughters of Old Bende? Where were Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Austin Akobundu, Benjamin Kalu, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, and others whose voices actually carry weight?

“What we saw in that now-ridiculed photo-op was a pathetic joke. And to Emeka Kalu, you have been away for too long, you actually have no idea what happens here. 

“You don’t know our struggles, our structure, or our identity; else you wouldn’t have confused Abia North with Old Bende and would have known that a Bende man is presently occupying the seat, which makes it challenging for another Bende man to aspire for same seat. 

“You have spent decades abroad and needs to settle in first before seeking to represent a people at the red chamber. 

“Stop disrespecting the people of Old Bende, our politics is not a playground for overnight patriots or opportunistic pretenders.

“Finally, Ikwuecheghe, should be reminded that as an Aba North and South federal  constituency representative, he can NEVER speak for Old Bende. That insult will not be taken lightly” the statement noted.
