There’s plot to remove me as CAN secretary in Benue – Archbishop Chianson

…Says CAN meeting with Gov Alia elicits  calls for his removal

The General Overseer of Hope Christian Church Makurdi, Archbishop Chivir Chianson,  has raised alarm over a plot by some very  prominent individuals in the church world and in government to remove him as secretary general of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Benue State chapter.

He stated that, despite the plot and called for his removal, he still remained the secretary of the association in the state hence, he was duly and legally elected by five blocs of Christian bodies that make up CAN.

Archbishop Chianson who stated this while speaking with newsmen in Makurdi, lamented that the call for his removal was elicited from a meeting of North Central leadership of CAN with Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia at Government House Makurdi.

He noted that the call for his removal and his possible replacement who come from Mbadede council of Vandeikyaa local government area, where the State governor hails from, further  buttress the fact that he(Chianson) come Kwande axis where everyone holding elective and non elective positions are being singled out for victimisation by governor Hyacinth Alia.

“After the meeting of the gathering of the North Central CAN officials who came to Benue State at the instance of Governor Alia where I was not informed or invited as a state secretary to the meeting. But to my greatest surprise, a desperate call came from the government that I should be removed.

“It was after the meeting with the governor that one of the officials immediately called me and said, brother, there is a problem and I said what is the problem? He then said, this meeting is a call for your removal, and is from a very senior person and the power that is in the church world and in government.

“So, I am equally trying to figure out what could be the reason and up till now, am still unable to know why that meeting elicited a call for my removal from office.

“I know that my relationship with the SGF, our leader, may have triggered the calls for my removal. Am not denying the fact that the SGF is not my leader and father whom I have respect for.

“Although, I have not received any letter of dismissal, never been told of any offence I have committed, never been summoned , called and copied any letter. I just keep on hearing that there is a letter announcing my removal”, he said.

Archbishop Chianson who is also the Secretary General, Charismatic Bishops of Nigeria said  that his alleged removal is politically motivated, stressing that CAN and PFN in Benue State has been completely politicized whereby politicians have hijacked the bodies.

He accused governor Alia of plotting and  wanting to remove him to bring his brother from Mbadede council where the governor came from to replace him with his fellow family member.

The PFN zonal Director, North Central (New Generation Directorate) however, enjoined politicians to focus on fulfilling their campaign promises after elections rather than singled  out people for victimisation, insisting that they all worked hard to put this government in place.

“We stood for this government, we have been trying to speak with other bodies like NLC, other groups to be able to achieve some level of unison”, Chianson stated.
