‘Nwifuru’s 2025 budget is apt, will address shortfalls in various sectors – Ebonyi lawmaker, Ezeali insists

Ebonyi State lawmaker, Oluchukwu Ukie Ezeali P Noble, representing Afikpo North/ East Constituency in the state house of assembly on Friday said that the governor Francis Nwifuru’s 2025 budget estimate is apt and will address shortfalls in various sectors.

The Chairman House Committee on Project Monitoring and Evaluation, commended the governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for presenting a worthy budget estimate for the year 2025, titled ‘budget of economic and social development’ to the state house of assembly for approval.

He made this known in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Abakaliki capital of Ebonyi State.

The statement reads in part: “The appropriation bill which is tagged ‘Budget of Economic and Social Development’ is apt as it aims to address the shortfalls in various sectors such as Health, Housing, Infrastructural development, Agriculture, Education, Water Supply, Human capital, Commerce, Industry and Business development, among others.

“Your proactive approach in outlining the fiscal strategy for the upcoming year demonstrates your unwavering commitment to enhancing the people’s charter of needs and promoting transparency and good governance. 

“The budget estimate of N396.58 billion is quite huge, and  the detailed planning and thoughtful allocation of resources reflect a deep understanding of the needs and aspirations of our people.

“The emphasis you placed on key areas such as the economic and social sector to guarantee industrialization, economic growth, and improved standard of living for the people of Ebonyi showcases your dedication to fostering the well-being and prosperity of our state. It is evident that you have prioritized initiatives that will have a lasting positive impact on our communities.

The 2025 revenue projection under Independent Revenue IGR, Tax revenue and Non Tax revenue totaling N28.499billion representing 7.19%, is impressive and will guarantee the achievement of the budget of social and economic development. 

“Moreover, your engagement with the Assembly members and willingness to collaborate, foster an environment of unity and progress. This collaborative spirit is crucial as we work together to address the challenges we face and seize the opportunities ahead” he stressed.

The Lawmaker, Ezeali however urged the governor, Francis Nwifuru to ensure that the positive outcome of the budget enhances the quality of lives of Ebonyians.

 “I look forward to seeing the positive outcomes of your budget initiative and your continued efforts to enhance the quality of life for all residents of Ebonyi State” he stated.
