14 suspected herders arrested by NSCDC over alleged transhumance Movement in Adamawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamawa State Command, under the leadership of Commandant ID BANDE, in collaboration with other security agencies, has successfully arrested 14 suspected herders for violating the Executive Order banning transhumance movement across the state.

The operation was carried out by the Hong Divisional Office of NSCDC, demonstrating the Corps’ unwavering commitment to enforcing the directives of the executive governor of Adamawa State.

The Nations News Nigeria reports that the Executive Order was issued to safeguard public safety and security and to prevent farmer-herder clashes that often result from unauthorized movements. 

Acting on this directive, the commandant, ID BANDE instructed the immediate enforcement of the ban across all 21 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Adamawa State.  

During a preliminary investigation, it was revealed that some of the arrested individuals are not indigenes of Adamawa State, emphasizing that the importance of enforcing the ban was to prevent external disruptions to the state’s peace and stability. 

Iit was gathered that investigations are still ongoing, and upon conclusion, the suspects will be prosecuted in a court of competent jurisdiction.  

“This action serves as a stern warning to individuals or groups contemplating similar violations. The NSCDC is resolute in its mission to uphold the law and will continue working tirelessly to ensure compliance with the Executive Order.  

The Commandant further reiterated the Corps’ dedication to fostering peace and security in the state and urged all residents and stakeholders to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies in maintaining the order.
