LG polls: ANSIEC declares APGA candidate, Orji as winner of Onitsha South LGA

The Anambra State Independence Electoral Commission, ANSIEC, has declared the candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Emeka Orji, winner of the Onitsha South Local Government Election conducted weekend.
Declaring the result of the election, the Returning Officer of the ANSIEC Mr Obinweze Onyeka said that; Chief Emeka Joseph Orji of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA scored a total of 84,087 votes to defeat the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Mr Nnamdi Zereuwa who scored 16, 0 86 votes .
According to the Returning Officer for the election, Onyeka, the election was peaceful and orderly.
Consequently, Emeka Joseph Orji is now the elected Chairman of Onitsha South local government area.
In his post election speech shortly after declaring the results, Emeka Joseph Orji noted that it was a victory for democracy and for the people of Onitsha South local government area.
Orji reiterated his sustained resolve to continue to put smiles on the faces of the people of the Council area.
“My great people of Onitsha South local government, I bring you all good felicitations as we enter a me era in the socioeconomic development of Onitsha South local government area”
“I must not fail to appreciate you all for the unflinching support that you gave to me as the Transition Committee Chairman of our Council Area”
“To this end I wish to make this solemn promise to take Onitsha South local government area to another level as I urge you all to join me on this journey to make our Council Area the most livable secured smart city homeland ”
“I must not fail to appreciate our ever hard working governor, Prof Charles Soludo for giving me the opportunity to serve the people of Onitsha South local government area.
“Finally I urge us to come on board as well as my fellow contestant in this mission of sustaining the transformation of our Council Area because a new dawn Is here ” he said.
