Benue Monarch, Ayatse tasks Nigerian youths to suspend nationwide hunger protest

The Paramount ruler and President, Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Tor Tiv, James Ayatse, on Monday, tasked Nigerian youths to suspend the planned nationwide protests over the current economic situation, saying that such action could be detrimental to the nation’s progress and development.
The Nations News Nigeriareports that various youth groups have concluded plans to carry out massive protests against bad governance, hunger, Insecurity, in Nigeria, especially in the present administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that was scheduled to hold 1st to 10th August 2024.
Ayatse in a statement by his palace media aide, Freddie Adamgbe ,appealed to those behind the protests to suspend their plans and allow seamless implementation of measures to address the discontent in the land.
Adamgbe said the Tor Tiv believe that by suspending the peaceful national protest, it may deny the enemies of the country the opportunity to possibly hijack the protest to achieve their sinister goals.
“The Tor Tiv acknowledges the suffering in the land, appreciates and identifies with the feelings of the people at a time like this.
” The Paramount also appeals to people in his domain, Benue State and the general public to exercise patience and give the Federal Government some more time to address the hunger, general high cost of living and insecurity in the land”, Adamgbe said.
