Adamawa ALGON Elects New leadership

The council chairman of Toungo local government area, Suleiman Gangkuba, on Monday emerged as the new chairman of the Association of Local governments Area of Nigeria, ALGON, Adamawa state chapter.

The Nations News Nigeria reports that the chairman of Michika local government area, Danbiyu Paul Tumba was elected as the Vice Chairman, while Idris Yahaya of Song local government area emerged as the Secretary of the association.

It was gathered that the new leadership of ALGON in the state, took place shortly after their swearing-in by the governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

Meanwhile, the governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has applauded the association for the peaceful conduct of their election that led to the emergence of the new leadership of the association in the state.

The governor, Umaru Fintiri made this known in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Yola,capital of Adamawa state by the Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou.

Fintiri, however, charged the newly elected leadership of ALGON in the state to ensure transparency and accountability in the discharge of their duties..

He further urged them to maintain decorum and uphold the trust placed on them by the citizens of the state.

The Governor reiterated that Local Governments in Adamawa have been granted autonomy five years ago, even before the Supreme Court judgment.

He urged the new officials of ALGON in the state to utilize this independence to build on what their predecessors have achieved and serve their communities effectively.

“As new executives of ALGON, you have a great task ahead of you, and I wish you success in your endeavors,” Governor Fintiri said.
