The governor of Bauchi state, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has vowed to run a transparent government and to be accountable to the people of the state, and however, reiterated his committed efforts to partner journalists in order to ensure massive development in the state.
Bala made this known during a ministerial press briefing with the theme: ‘Actualizing the dream of my Bauchi project’, held at the auditorium complex of the Abubakar Umar Secretariat, Bauchi.
The governor who was represented by the state head of civil service, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu, said that his administration will continue working tirelessly towards improving its two media organizations, and also continue to give the necessary support to other media outfits in the State for them to carry out their duties efficiently and effectively.
“I therefore appeal to them to continue to work with the government as partners in progress. They should not hesitate to contact agencies of the State Government on how they run their affairs. As you all know, our government is committed to ensure accountability and transparency as its hallmark”
“I am pleased to note that in spite of the challenge of funding faced by the State owned media organizations namely, BATV and BRC, they have been able to promote and project the activities of the government. Considering the role of the two media outfits in providing feedback between the government and the general public, the government has directed that they should be fully upgraded, digitized and their studio, office complex be fully rehabilitated.
Earlier in a remark, the Commissioner of information and communication, Usman G. Danturaki, emphasized on the need to revive this activity ‘ministerial press briefing’ that was long neglected, becoming paramount.
“The Ministry had recorded numerous successes, through the support of the governor, few amongst which are the Renovation and Digitization of the Bauchi State Television which has been in the State of neglect for a long time; contract for both (Renovation and Digitization) was awarded. While the digitization is nearing completion, the total rehabilitation of the BATV office complex has since been completed” he stressed.
