Anambra police arrest gun runner, recover 375 live cartridges

Police officers attached with Fegge division, Onitsha, Anambra State have arrested, one Felix Owaya, aged, 48 years who hails from Ika South local Government Area, Delta State for alleged gun-running.
The Nations News Nigeria reports that the suspect, Owaya was arrested by the police officers who were on patrol along Niger Street, Onitsha, and recovered 375 live cartridges from him
It was gathered that the suspect during interrogation by the police confessed to the crime, adding that he was allegedly sent by one Mr Charles Ogboma to a man, he is yet to identify that will collect the ammunition.
The police stated that investigation is ongoing to unravel those behind the alleged gun-running in the area.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, however commended the Police Officers who made the recovery.
He said that the recovery was possible due to their vigilance and tenacity of purpose, and further directed all personnel in the Command to sustain the tempo of crime prevention and detection in service of the people of the State.
Similarly, the state Police Public Relation’s Officer, PPRO, Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement signed and issued to newsmen, said that the arrest of the suspected gun-runner happened barely 24 hours, that the command arrested two other armed robbers/rapists that was declared wanted by the Police in Abagana.
