Hike: Gov. Abdulkadir approves additional N.95m for each Hajj pilgrims in Bauchi
The governor of Bauchi state, Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad has announced the payment of Nine Hundred and Fifty Nine Thousand, Twenty Five Naira for each of the Hajj pilgrims to argument the additional cost of the hajj fare.
Investigation revealed that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON, allegedly raised the fare of this year’s Hajj pilgrim to #8.5million and demanded for the additional payment of #1.9million from each of the pilgrims.
The Executive Secretary, Muslim pilgrims welfare Board Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris, announced the payment of the above sum to the pilgrims at a press briefing in Bauchi state on Friday.
He said that the payment of the above Hajj fares, was to ensure the welfare of intending pilgrims.
“The NAHCON has earlier announced One Million, Nine Hundred and Eighteen Thousand, Fifty Naira (1,918,050.00) and His Excellency, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad CON (Kauran Bauchi) has in his own magnanimity, approved the Argumentation of the additional cost of Hajj fare in the Sum of N959,025.00.”
According him, “all intending pilgrims who paid the sum of Four Million, Six Hundred and Ninety Nine Thousand Naira (N4,699,00) will now pay additional N959,025.00 as against the earlier announced N1,918,050.00.
Imam Abdurrahman added that who have already paid the additional cost N1,918,050.00, the governor, has also approved the refund of their N959,025.00.
He further stated that who have already paid the sum of N4,699,000 hajj fare and would not be able to pay the subsidized sum of N959,025.00 to complete the fare, will have their argumentation under the custody of the Bauchi state Muslim pilgrims Welfare Board to be rolled over as deposit against 2025 hajj exercise.
Imam Abdurrahman use the forum to inform the extension of the payment deadline to Monday 1st April, 2024, stressing that those willing to pay their balance are free to come to the Board Headquarters within the time-frame as Banks will be available to serve the pilgrims, urged intending pilgrims to use the golden opportunity to hasten and update their payment status to be able to benefit from His Excellency’s benevolence.
