2027: PDP Structure can never Collapse into APC in Nasarawa –  Musa insists

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nasarawa State Chapter, on Friday dismissed as false and misleading reports alleging that a faction of the party loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, had collapsed its structure into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party, in a statement issued by its State Publicity Secretary, Bako Labaran Musa, described the publication titled “Nasarawa PDP Wike Faction Collapses Structure to APC” as lacking credibility and official backing.

According to the party, the individual credited with the publication,, Sani Muhammed Keffi, no longer has the authority to speak for the PDP, having allegedly been suspended and removed from office by the party’s National Headquarters over anti-party activities.

“The said individual was duly suspended and removed from his office and party on June 2, 2026, by the National Headquarters for anti-party activities contrary to Section 58(j) of the PDP Constitution 2017 as amended.

Therefore, Hon. Mohammed Sani Keffi and his associates lack the legal and moral authority to issue statements or speak on behalf of the PDP in any capacity,” the statement said.

The party stressed that Keffi’s views were entirely personal and should not be construed as representing the position of the PDP.

“It is equally important to urge the public to disregard statements from suspended individuals. Any attempt to associate his actions or comments with the Wike political structure is false, mischievous and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public,” Musa stated.

Reaffirming the unity of the party in the state, the PDP insisted that it remained one indivisible entity with functional structures and would not be distracted by what it described as the antics of individuals seeking political relevance.

“The PDP in Nasarawa State remains united, focused and committed. There are no factions in the party in the state. 

We remain one indivisible entity and will not be distracted by baseless and provocative statements,” the statement added.

The opposition party also reaffirmed the legitimacy of its candidates for the 2027 general elections, saying they emerged through a process organized and supervised by the party’s National Headquarters.

It stated that, David Emmanuel Ombugadu remains the party’s duly elected governorship candidate for the 2027 election, while other candidates who emerged from the party’s primaries were also duly elected in accordance with the party’s guidelines.

The PDP explained that the candidates were nominated by the State Working Committee and their names officially submitted and uploaded by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the party’s authentic candidates for the forthcoming elections.

The party therefore distanced itself from the publication alleging that the so-called Wike faction in Nasarawa had defected to the APC.

“The Nasarawa State chapter of the PDP distances itself from the false publication that the Wike faction in the state has defected to the APC. 

“We urge our members, supporters and the general public to disregard the publication in its entirety, as it is devoid of truth, credibility and official backing,” the statement read.

The PDP maintained that only statements issued by the duly recognized leadership of the party in Nasarawa State through its authorized officials should be regarded as the official position of the party.
