Beneficiary Lauds Tinubu’s Aide, Nweze Over South-East Skill Acquisition Programme

A beneficiary of the Presidential Community Engagement Empowerment Programme, Ms. Aniebiri Elizabeth Ngozi, has commended the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South East), Chioma Nweze, for empowering her through the Skill-Up South East Business Empowerment Programme.

Ngozi, in a letter of appreciation addressed to Nweze, expressed gratitude for receiving a brand-new sewing machine and a ₦200,000 start-up grant, describing the intervention as a major boost to her ambition of becoming self-reliant.

The beneficiary, who is from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Umulumgbe, in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, said the support would enable her to establish a fashion design and tailoring business, acquire production materials and train apprentices, thereby contributing to job creation in her community.

She described the initiative as evidence of the Federal Government’s commitment to youth empowerment and entrepreneurship under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“I sincerely appreciate you for remembering the South East and for investing in young entrepreneurs like me. I pledge to make judicious use of these items and will keep your office informed of the progress of my business,” she said.

The commendation comes weeks after the graduation of beneficiaries of the Skill-Up South East Empowerment and Development Programme, an initiative of the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South East).

A total of 95 beneficiaries, representing the 95 local government areas across the five South-East states, completed vocational training under the programme and received professional certification, sewing machines and start-up grants to establish their businesses.

The graduation and empowerment ceremony, held on June 14, 2026, at the Ebonyi State Ecumenical Centre in Abakaliki, attracted government officials, development partners, community leaders, youth groups and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Nweze said the programme was designed to equip young people with practical vocational skills and entrepreneurial knowledge that would enable them to build sustainable businesses and become employers of labour.

She noted that beneficiaries received training in fashion design, financial literacy and business management, alongside the tools and financial support required to begin their enterprises.

According to her, the initiative reflects the Tinubu administration’s commitment to translating skills acquisition into economic opportunities capable of reducing unemployment and stimulating grassroots development.

She added that the programme aligns with the administration’s vision of inclusive economic growth and sustainable empowerment, urging beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity by building successful businesses that would positively impact their communities.

Ngozi’s testimonial is one of several positive responses from beneficiaries of the Skill-Up South East Programme, underscoring its growing impact on entrepreneurship, job creation and economic empowerment across the region.
