The Ezza Ezekuna Development Association (EEDA) on Thursday re-affirmed the commitment of Ezza Nation to massively vote, re-elect governor Francis Nwifuru for the second term in office, come 2027 general election.

They declared that the governorship of Ebonyi State should remain in Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone until 2031 in line with the state’s established zoning arrangement.

The Association however, unveiled its mission, vision and policy direction on governance, political equity and issues affecting Ezza people.

The speech was read by Chika Onwe, former Commissioner for Information and State Orientation in Ebonyi State, on behalf of the association.

The address was signed by the National President of EEDA, Chief Kingsley Akam, and the National Secretary, Comrade Uchechukwu Ede

Speaking during the briefing, the association described itself as a socio-cultural, socio-economic and socio-political organisation established to promote the unity, welfare, development and collective interests of Ezza people across Ebonyi State and beyond.

According to the group, following its registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in April 2024, EEDA has emerged as a legally recognised platform committed to strategic advocacy, constructive engagement and the advancement of issues affecting Ezza communities.

On the issue of political succession in the state, the association said it remains firmly committed to the principles of justice, fairness, equity and political stability, insisting that the zoning arrangement that has guided the state’s political leadership should be respected.

“The governorship of Ebonyi State remains, in accordance with the prevailing zoning understanding, in Ebonyi North until 2031.

“No reasonable Ezza person, properly informed of the history of our state and properly committed to the collective stability of Ebonyi, would oppose this arrangement,” the association stated.

It stressed that political ambition should never be allowed to undermine the peace and stability of the state, noting that any discussion regarding future political succession must be conducted within the framework of established political agreements and mutual respect among stakeholders.

“We declare our irrevocable endorsement of governor Francis Nwifuru, for a second term as Governor of Ebonyi State.

“This endorsement is made freely, without coercion and without reservation. It is grounded in his demonstrated commitment to peace, development and inclusive governance,” the group stated.
