Security operatives arrest 3 suspected kidnappers in Anambra

The Rapid Response Squad of the Anambra state Police Command, Awkuzu, in collaboration with members of the Agunechemba Vigilante Group, Nnobi, acting on a well-coordinated operation based on credible intelligence, stormed a bush located at Umuezeala Awuda Village,
Nnobi, in Idemili North Local Government Area and rescued a kidnapped victim, arrested three suspected kidnappers, recovered #469,000 cash and one locally made Beretta pistol.

The three suspects arrested at the scene, all males included, Chidalu Obi 25 years, Chichebem Ojenigbo 26 years and Chikannechukwu Eze, 20 years respectively.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, (SP)) preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects lured the victim, an electrician by profession, under the pretext of offering him a job.
Upon arrival at the agreed location, the victim was forcefully blindfolded at gunpoint and taken to the bush at Umuezeala Awuda, where he was held captive.
He said the suspects have confessed to the crime and admitted to collecting a ransom of ₦469,000, which was transferred into a SportyBet account belonging to one of the suspects, Chidalu Obi.
The Anambra State Police Command reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged members of the public to continue to support the Police with timely and credible information.
