After 24yrs: Youths urge Gov. Otu to allow Akpabuyo indigenes  takeover House of Reps position

As the 2027 elections gathers momentum, youths group under the aegis of Akpabuyo youths movement in cross river state has called on the state governor, Prince Bassey Edet Otu to consider the local government for the House of Representatives position claiming that the local government has stayed patiently for 24 years

The group while thanking the governor on the appointment of Akpabuyo indigenes in his administration, also were full of  appreciation to the Governor in the area of security which used to be their nightmare, stating that insecurity in the local government is now a thing of the past.

They also use the event to drum up support for Governor Bassey Otu and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong in the 2027 elections

According to the coordinator of the group, Okokon Ndem Ndem, who said that domiciling the House of Representatives position in one local government for 24 years, out of three LGAs that make up that federal constituency doesn’t represent equity, fairness but rather shows the injustice the area is facing when it comes to selecting somebody to represent the three LGAs in the House of Representatives.

“Each time somebody from Akpabuyo stands out to contest for House of Representatives the person will be asked to step down for somebody from Calabar South, this has been the trend for 24 good years now. In 2019, 2023, Dr Edem Okokon Effiom was asked to step down for aspirant from Calabar South even after he had bought his forms” Ndem maintained.

The youths who were drowned from all the 10 wards of Akpabuyo local government area of cross river pledged their full support for the re-election of Governor Bassey Otu and President Tinubu because of what the described as five star performance of these leaders

One of the youths who gave is name as Okon Etim said at the sidelines during the event that the local government have good people with good knowledge of the federal constituency and good educational and political background who can represent the federal constituency very well.He pleaded with Governor Otu to give Akpabuyo a chance in 2027 for fairness, equity and justice, Etim stated.
