2027: Adamawa speaker, 14 other lawmakers resign from PDP
From Yagana Ali Yola
The Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Wesley Bathiya, and 14 other lawmakers have resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Nations News reports that the resignation followed a speculation that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri might be planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The mass resignation has effectively shifted the balance of power in the 25-member Assembly, giving the APC a majority. Governor Fintiri’s potential defection is seen as a strategic move to strengthen his position and influence within the ruling party.
Speaking to journalists, Mahmud Kallamu, chairman of the House committee on information, said the resigning lawmakers are consulting with their people to determine their next political move.
Kallamu confirmed that they will support Governor Fintiri’s decision, wherever he chooses to go.

The All Progressives Party (APC) in the state sees this development as a sign of President Bola Tinubu’s government attracting opposition members.
