‘Don’t allow Gov. Fintiri to bring disaster to APC- Ex-Foreign Affairs minister, Aliyu warns
By Yagana Ali Yola
The former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Health, Aliyu Idi Hong, has warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) against allowing Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to assume control of the party in the state.
Hong, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party, made the statement during his visit to the APC state secretariat, accompanied by hundreds of supporters.

The former Minister Hong, a seasoned politician, described Fintiri’s potential defection to the APC as a “tantrum” that could plunge the party into crisis and jeopardize its chances in the 2027 general elections.
He argued that permitting Fintiri to lead the APC would be unfair to loyal party members who have consistently served and sustained the party.
“Fintiri became Governor twice because of APC, and nothing he has done to the party except tantrums of attacks and undue mockery criticism,” Hong stated,
He emphasized that the governor’s political value has diminished since he’s no longer seeking any position.
Hong warned that Fintiri’s leadership would be divisive and unfair, citing the governor’s track record in the PDP.
He urged APC leaders to exercise caution, warning that handing over the party to Fintiri could spark internal crisis and hinder the party’s ability to form the next government.

The defection comes amid speculation about Governor Fintiri’s possible switch to the APC, fueled by recent developments, including President Bola Tinubu’s working visit to the state and widespread APC branding across Yola.
