NSCDC promotes 52 officers, vows to ensure free, fair polls in Ebonyi

The Nigeria security and civil Defence corps, NSCDC, Ebonyi State command has decorated over fifty two officers that was promoted from Assistant commandants to Deputy commandant, Superintendent  to Chief Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent of Corps to Superintendent, etc.

The command vowed to enhance its core values and duty of Safeguarding critical infrastructures of the state, federal, and local government area.

The sector commander of NSCDC, Francis Nnadi made this known while speaking with newsmen shortly after the decoration of the newly promoted fifty two senior officers, that took place at the state command headquarters Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

Nnadi revealed the preparedness of the command to collaborate with other security agencies in the state to provide adequate security to Nigerians especially in the forthcoming local government and other elections in the state.

According to him: “I had a great number of officers that were promoted today.And I had to do that because the reward for hard work is more work.

“I will tell you what, all the time, the commander-general sent me here to make sure that we decorate and then place NSCDC at the top. I’ve already heard the state government saying that NSCDC is number one.That’s what got them.

“We are establishing the NSCDC clinic in a couple of weeks’ time. We are inaugurating the senior officers’ mess, the junior officers’ mess which will be commissioned.And then we have training programs coming up.

“And, of course, we have a general election which we are preparing for.Safeguarding critical infrastructures of the state, federal, and local government which happens to be our core mandate.We are on top of it” he stated.
In a remark, the secretary to the state government, SSG, Mrs. Grace Umezuruike who decorated some of the promoted senior officers, including the command’s PRO, Obianuju Ibeneme, lauded the good works the sector commander, Nnadi is doing in the state.
“We wish to commend the good works the NSCDC commander is doing for Ebonyi State. It is one thing to have a responsibility and it is another to be passionate about it. I want to say that the NSCDC commandant is very passionate about what he is doing and the state government appreciates this great work” she noted.

Responding, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Ebonyi State, Richard Idike said: “I want to tell you that the Commandant is doing very well, because if you watch the security in the State, it has been beefed up by police and mostly civil defense. 

“And they say that with whom much is given, much is expected.It is expected that they should do more. And for those that have been promoted today, you can see it is a blessing from Ebonyi state.

“And the promotion is like what I have said, that whom much is given, much is expected. It is expected that they should upgrade” he stated.
