Adamawa Govt approves N8.8bn for Education, Security, Other Projects

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has given approval and assured of full support to the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) ahead of their annual Pharmaceutical National Conference bill for next year 2026 in Adamawa State.

The annual conference which is scheduled to be hosted in Adamawa State in 2026 has the full blessings and backing of the Governor who pledged to render every support necessary to make the conference a success.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, gave the assurances when he played host to the national leadership of PSN led by its national chairman Pharmacist Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, at the Government House in Yola.

While addressing the national leadership of the society who were in the Government House to pay him a courtesy visit, Fintiri acknowledged the impact of the PSN to the state and nation at large.

“I have always taken them into consideration as one of the most important parts of our hospital delivery services”.

He revealed that though Adamawa may not have a pharmaceutical training institute or any of the Pharmaceutical department in any of the institutions in the state however, his administration has done so much in areas of reforms that have attracted those that matter in the hospitals and in hospital services.

He emphasized that his administration will continue on that trajectory in order to attract more professionals in the pharmaceutical field by making the profession more attractive in the state.

He revealed that his administration has made a remarkable impact on the services of doctors, nurses and other auxiliary staff in the health sector and expressed his readiness to extend similar gestures to members of the PSN in the state.

The Governor used the event to equally ratify an order restraining the state Ministry of Environment to hence forth desist from intruding functions of the PSN in the state, and called on the Head of Service, to immediately pass the information to the ministry for necessary action to that effect.

In his remarks, the PSN national chairman Pharmacist Ayuba Tanko Ibrahim, said that they were at the Government House pay courtesy visit and as well intimate the Governor on the PSN forthcoming National Conference which will be hosted by the Adamawa State branch of the PSN.

He revealed that the PSN in Nigeria was established in 1927 noting that next year 2026, the society will celebrate its hundred years in existence. “And over the years we’ve been providing essential services in terms of good healthcare delivery”, the chairman said.

The PSN chairman eulogies the Governor for his unwavering commitment and dedication to healthcare development in the state and for giving some members of the society in the state position of Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries, Special Advisers and offering employment in the health sector which members of the society also benefited.

He stated that the Governor has established more pharmacy units in the state health facility, which improve the availability of quality medication into the supply chain system.

He decried the absence of pharmaceutical colleges pointing out that their is no university in Adamawa that is offering pharmacy. He therefore advocated for the establishment of the college of pharmaceutical sciences.

According to the PSN national chairman, through such initiatives the state will have enough pharmacists to go round health facilities in the state and ensure effective service delivery.

He appealed to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, to draw attention of the state ministry of Environment to desist from what he described as unlawful interference of the ministry in matter that is known to be an exclusive preserve of federal government agencies which undermines the functions of members of the society and other approved federal government agencies in the state.

According to him the law doesn’t permit the Ministry of Environment to embark on inspection of pharmaceutical premises and even seize drugs. He stressed that the development has the ability to undermine and deny it’s members opportunity to carry out it’s functions as enshrined in Nigerias’ constitution.

He solicited the support and cooperation of the Governor as the PSN granted the state hosting right of its annual conference coming up next year 2026.
