The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Nasarawa State Chapter, has appealed for calm and unity over recent protests and criticisms directed at prominent sons and daughters of the state holding federal appointments, particularly the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.

Speaking in Lafia on Friday, Chairman of the Nasarawa state Chapter of the Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Jaafar Muhammad Loko, cautioned against “orchestrated attacks” on the Minister and other federal appointees from the state.
Loko stresses that such actions could undermine their capacity to deliver on their mandates.
“We urge members of the public, especially social media handlers and platforms like Nasarawa Mirror, to exercise restraint and refrain from inflaming personal attacks on prominent citizens of the state, particularly the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs,” Loko said.
He acknowledged the grievances expressed during the recent protest by staff of the Ministry of Women Affairs but called for constructive engagement rather than personality-targeted criticisms.
“Their concerns about welfare and other issues are legitimate, but we believe these matters can be addressed through dialogue and not through personal attacks on the Minister,” he added.
Loko stresses that the federal appointees are assets to Nasarawa State and deserve support to enable them deliver both to the nation and to the state.
“As our representatives at the federal level, they are a valuable asset to our state, and we believe that they deserve our support and encouragement.
“Rather than attacking their personalities, we should rally around them and provide constructive feedback,” he said.
The youth leader further appealed to all stakeholders to uphold decorum in their interactions with federal appointees from Nasarawa, noting that with unity and support, they would continue to contribute to the development of the state and Nigeria.
