60 Tennis players from South South/Southeast to storm Calabar for Championship

More than 60 table tennis players from various states in the south south and southeast regions are to participate in this year’s table tennis tournament scheduled to hold at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar 

Briefing newsmen in Calabar, the sponsor Offiong Edem said the tournament will take place on the 5th and 6th July 2024.

She stated that she had been sponsoring the tournament in the last four years without assistance from anywhere, just because of the love and passion she has for the game of table tennis and to bring up younger once.

Edem stated also that the competition will be in two categories; under 14 boys and girls and under 17 boys and girls with lots of price money and consolation prizes to be won all with support from some of her friends oversea

She stressed that this is the fourth edition of the tournament and that the foundation is open to children from 9 to 17 years who would like to play table and make a carrier out of it, maintaining that since inception of the foundation, so many young players have been discovered, all they need is encouragement and that is why she has been encouraging them, by giving them kits 

She called on the table tennis federation in Nigeria to always organize club leagues in table tennis, where the players will always be engaging themselves in active tournaments like it is done elsewhere in the world if the country must record success in international competitions.
