2027 polls: PDP will takeover governance of Borno state – chairmanship aspirant, Ahmad insist

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chairmanship aspirant in Borno state, Alhaji Ahmad Ibrahim Umar on Sunday, insisted that his party will takeover governance of the state come 2027 general election.
Umar who is the former chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) North East, West and Central amalgamation for Atiku Abubakar 2023 general election, however declared interest to contest for the party’s chairmanship position in Borno State.
Umar made this known while on telephone interview withThe Nations News Nigeriacorrespondent in Borno state on Sunday.
He said: “My experience in politics will give me the opportunity to add value and ensure the success of the party.
“I want to become Borno state party chairman to enable the PDP have the opportunity to take over the mantle of governance in the state come 2027”, Alhaji Umar added.
Umar who is also the former Borno state PDP youth registration organization noted that he has a “tremendous amount of confidence and faith in the PDP, which according to him is the party of everyone’s dream.
Umar who expressed regret that since 1999, PDP has never won the governorship seat of Borno state, promised to ensure that his party wins in the next general election in the state, if given the chance to emerge as the party chairman.
According to him, since past leaders of the PDP in Borno failed to secure victory, he would work hard to ensure the success of the party, “If elected as Borno state PDP chairman, come 2027 PDP will win the state governorship position”, he vowed.
“I will take the advantage of the hardships that the ruling APC has imposed on Nigerians to defeat them. They have subjected our people to untold hardships, poverty, insecurity are prevalent in the country”, he said.
Umar said with the current realities on ground, people are fade up with the APC, adding that no party will rule Borno state again except PDP, if elected as party chairman.
He added that “I will work tirelessly with party stakeholders and the youths to stop APC from ruling Borno state in future elections if given the mandate of becoming the party chairman”, he stressed.
