2027: ‘No Ezza man will contest guber election against Gov. Nwifuru – Ogodo Ali insists

The deputy national president of the Association of Local Governments in Nigeria, ALGON, Mr. Nomeh Ogodo-Ali amongst other prominent stakeholders of Ezza nation has assured that no Ezza man will contest the 2027 gubernatorial election against governor, Francis Nwifuru.

Nomeh, made this known while speaking with newsmen during the grand finale of the 2025 Okeaku New Yam festival of Ezza clan, held at Ezekuna Cultural Center, Onueke, Ezza South LGA, Ebonyi state.

The council chairmen of Ezza north local government area, Ogodo-Ali is the chairman of the Central planing committee of the 2025 Okeaku New Yam festival.

He said that the reasons why there will be no Ezza man to challenge or contest against the governor, Nwifuru, in the forthcoming 2027 general election, was because he has delivered on his campaign promises, showed greater love and commitment in carrying the clan along in his administration in the state.

“We are not missing words, and our promise to governor Francis Nwifuru is that, there will be no Ezza man to challenge or contest against him in the 2027 election” he said.

He, however applauded the stakeholders of Ezza clan for trooping out in their great numbers to celebrate this year’s 2025 New yam festival of the clan.

Responding, the deputy Chief Whip of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chukwu Arinze Lucas, called for the entrenchment of deeper peace and unity amongst stakeholders of Ezza clan.

Chukwu Arinze who is representing Ishielu South constituency in the state house of Assembly, noted further that only unity and peace will aide the clan to succeed in the state.

He described the okeaku new yam festival as an opportunity for bringing all the sons and daughters of Ezza Ezekuna together. 

The deputy Chief Whip, Arinze, however urged them to continue to live in unity, while sustaining the culture inherited from their forefathers.

In a remark, the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Ikeuwa Omebe, described the new yam festival as very momentous. A time to assess achievements made so far, areas for improvement and recognizing the goodness of God in one’s life.

He stated that the festival is a symbol of unity and peace, adding  that the peace existing in the state has been granted by Governor Nwifuru.

Omebe emphasized that Ebonyi is the most peaceful state in the country.
