Gov. Nwifuru and Emegha

By Uchenna Okeh Abakaliki

In a country where politicians often spend more time on televisions, rather than at project sites, governor Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru is charting a different course in Ebonyi State. He’s not a noise-maker. He’s not the type spent quality time on social media announcing every block of cement laid.

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi state led by the chairman, Stanley Okoro Emegha had in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Abakaliki by the publicity secretary, Simbad Ogbuatu, described the governor, Francis Nwifuru as a talk and do leader, whose passion always is to uplift the standard of living of the citizens, through his people’s chatter of needs.

The APC, further described the governor as a great leader with unique vision and capacity, whose plans is to entrench good governance through the provision of social amenities to better the lots of the people, and that he has been doing this since two years ago in the state. And he’s not making noise about it, unlike other politicans who don’t have other things doing but prefers to spend quality time on the social media making noise.

It would shock you to note that in the last 18 months in office, Governor Nwifuru has completed 48 road projects across the state, and it’s verifiable.

That’s not a campaign promise or wishful thinking. It’s reality. Key roads like the 10km Ezillo-Ezzagu Road and the 12.239km Okposi-Ojigwe Road have not only been completed but are already in use. And it is easing movement for both rural dwellers and urban commuters.

These are not cosmetic projects for media attention. They have economic lifelines to Ebonyians. And then, there’s the ongoing flyover with underground tunnels at Vanco Junction. It’s a signature project that even generations unborn in Ebonyi will come to appreciate.

The projects are not just about aesthetics, it’s about urban mobility, long-term planning, and taking Ebonyi’s capital city into the future. That’s the kind of governance that matters in the state.

Here’s the irony: many critics say he’s not doing enough. But if we pause and look closely, what they really mean is “he’s not doing it the way we’re used to.” He’s not chasing clout. He’s not blowing sirens just to show presence. He’s working and the work is showing.

How about the 204 Ebonyians currently studying abroad on state sponsorship?

Yes, tuition, accommodation, feeding, all fully covered by the Ebonyi State Government. That’s 204 futures redirected, 204 families impacted, and 204 potential professionals who will return with global exposure to contribute to Ebonyi State’s growth. That’s how you plant seeds for a better tomorrow.

Some say he’s “too quiet.” But then what Ebonyians truly need is not a noisy leader. We need someone who doesn’t speak in empty promises but in results; Someone who doesn’t need to shout because his work is loud enough. The roads speak. The flyover speaks. The scholarships speak. And whether his critics like it or not, Ebonyi people are beginning to acknowledge his good works.

Governor Nwifuru’s style may not be for everyone. The good news is that Ebonyi State is moving ahead: quietly, steadily, and progressively. So before you join the bandwagon and chorus the “he’s not doing anything” anthem, take a closer look. You just might realize you’ve been walking on one of his roads all along.
