2026: Gov. Bala presents N878b budget estimate to Bauchi House Of Assembly for approval

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has presented the sum of N878. 152 billion budget estimate for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly for consideration. 

Bala, while presenting the budget estimate tagged “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability” held at the Bauchi State House of Assembly Chamber inside the Ahmadu Bello International Conference Centre.

Under the budget estimate, the sum of N567.47bn was allocated as capital expenditure which is 65% while the remaining 35 % was allocated for recurrent expenditure which is N310billion.

He said the budget would be funded through federation allocation, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), aids and grants, as well as capital development receipts.

The Governor explained that the budget was prepared against the backdrop of major macroeconomic reforms at the national level, including the removal of premium Motor Spirit PMS subsidies and fiscal corrections that have helped Nigeria avert a macro-fiscal crisis.

Statutory allocation of eight nine point three, six billion Naira is earmarked out the 2026 budget of eight hundred and seventy eight points one, five billion Naira, Value Added Tax stands at One hundred billion Naira, Internally Generated Revenue stands at sixty, four point six one billion Naira.

Recurrent expenditure, in the fiscal year has three hundred and twelve point six, nine billion, representing thirty five percent of the budget, while the sum of five hundred and sixty seven point four, seven billion Naira for Capital expenditure, representing sixty five percent.

The Governor projected that Bauchi State would benefit from improved national oil output, with Nigeria’s economy expected to grow by 3.7% in 2026, while inflation is anticipated to fall to 15.9%.

The Governor promised to focus on water supply, Agriculture, Education, rural growth, payment of pension and gratuity to the retired civil servants of the State. 

Bala expressed appreciation to the Speaker, Abubakar Y. Suleiman, and other members of the assembly for their support, cooperation and legislative backing in delivering impactful governance across the state.

“In service to our people, I salute your courage, forthrightness, and resilience. It is my earnest hope that the unity and collaboration demonstrated by the executive, legislature, and judiciary in building a peaceful and prosperous Bauchi will continue to bear lasting fruit,” the governor stated.

In his remark, the speaker of the House, Abubakar Y. Suleiman, commended the governor for his judicious utilisation of the 2025 budget resources wisely that changed the narrative of the State in terms of human and infrastructural development across the State.

The speaker assured the governor and the people of the state that the house would accord the budget a speedy passage.
