2 dies in tragic domestic violence incidents in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command is investigating two separate domestic violence incidents that resulted in the deaths of two individuals in Madagali and Gombi Local Government Areas.
These tragic incidents highlight the devastating consequences of unresolved family disputes and the need for peaceful conflict resolution.
In Pallam District, Madagali LGA, a physical altercation between two co-wives, Rhoda Anthony, 55, and Victoria Anthony, 36, turned deadly.
The confrontation escalated when Victoria’s 16-year-old son, Ijai Anthony, intervened, striking his stepmother, Rhoda, on the head with a piece of wood. Rhoda was rushed to Cottage Hospital, Madagali, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Both Victoria and her son are currently in protective custody as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a similar development, In Fotta District, Gombi LGA, a son, Idi Buba, stabbed his father, Buba Jelli, in the neck and back during a domestic dispute.
The victim was taken to the Primary Health Care Centre in Fotta, where he died from his injuries. The suspect was arrested at the scene, and the knife used in the attack was recovered as evidence.
According to the police public relations officer SP Sulaiman Yahaya Ngroje , the Adamawa State Police Command has launched a thorough investigation into both incidents.
Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, condemned the acts, emphasizing the need for peaceful conflict resolution. The police assured the public that full investigations are underway and that the suspects will face prosecution.
These incidents highlight the importance of community support services for families and individuals experiencing domestic violence.
