1yr after, Police re-arrest Suleja inmate escapee,13 others over new offenses

The Niger State Police Command has successfully rearrested an escape i1nmate from the Suleja Correctional Center in 2024 during the jail break and 13 other suspects for various offences.
In a bulletin signed by Command Spokesman, SP Wasiu Abiodun on Thursday said security personnel intercepted the fleeing inmate after his involvement in another criminal activities.
“Earlier on October 15, 2025 at about 8.30pm, Police surveillance team attached ‘B’ Div Suleja, while on routine patrol along Suleja-Madalla road, intercepted one Jemilu Ibrahim of Timber-shed area, Kwata Madalla with a container containing some illicit substances and other suspected stolen items such as ATM cards, and Phones”

According to him, investigation revealed that he was involved in a robbery case with firearms, and prosecuted and remanded at the Suleja Correctional Center.
“He was discovered to be among inmates that escaped in 2024 as a result of the wall collapse at Suleja Correctional Center during the heavy downpour”
SP Wasiu Abiodun said the inmate has been transferred to SCID for onward transfer to the Correctional Center.
Similarly, two suspected armed robbers and tei others found in possession of dangerous weapons, illicit drugs were also nabbed.
The State Police Public Relations Officer said the effort of the Command is in continuation of the Niger State Police Command efforts to combat crime and criminality in the State.
“Police operatives of Anti-thuggery unit conducted a series of raids in Suleja and its environs, and on October 17, 2025 at about 11p.m two suspects were arrested;
Chikile Stephen Ifesinachi 37yrs of Efab Estate Dakwa, Suleja Naziru Nasiru 19yrs, also of Dakwa
The suspects were arrested at their adjoining shops located behing Kamba Plaza, Dakwa Suleja, having been suspected of aiding and abetting thuggery in the area. Exhibits recovered from the shops include;
4 Machetes and 2 knives,
Others are; 4 Sim cards,4 ATM cards, 1 I.D Card and 1 Voters card belonging to separate individuals- Smoking apparatus (Shisha pots) Other illicit drugs, Cash sum of over two hundred thousand naira (#200,000)
He explained that the ATM cards, Sim cards and the I.D cards were found in a bag and other illicit substances found in the possession of Stephen who owns both shops.
“He failed to give a satisfactory account of these items found in his possession, and claimed that the bag belonged to one alleged soldier known only as “Daddy” who left the bag in his shop as collateral due to failure to pay for services rendered for over nine months.”
