Poverty: Anambra CP warns residents against obeying sit-at-home order

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police Mr. Okioye Orutugu,   Wednesday warned residents of the state to stop observing Monday sit-at-home in their own interest stating that those who observe it will continue to remain poor.

He sounded the note of warning when he stormed the scene of fire outbreak at Ifejirika street where wares estimated into millions of naira were gutted by fire last Friday.

He however commiserated with the victims of the inferno some of who have their entire wares destroyed by the raging fire stating that a tripartite investigative panel will be set up with the view to forestalling future occurance.

The CP who physically came to ascertain the extent of destruction lamented that two residential buildings, (four storey and three storey) were gutted by the inferno while two major warehouses were destroyed beyond recognition and millions of naira worth of clothing materials in bales went into ashes.

” If you want to be poor continue to observe Monday sit-at-home. Police and Anambra state government are saddened with the fire incident. We will set up a tripartite investigative panel to look into the cause of the inferno with a view to forestalling future occurrence,” CP further disclosed.
