Police arraigned masquerader, Ebube over assault on female nurse in Enugu

Police Operatives serving in the Nsukka Sector of the Enugu State Command Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad, has arrested and arraigned in court a masquerader, one Ugwuoke Ebube “m”, aged 22 who allegedly assaulted a female nurse in Nsukka, Enugu State.
The Nations News Nigeria reports that the police officers intercepted and arrested a masquerade (popularly called Oriokpa) while physically assaulting the female victim (names withheld) at Ugwuoye Junction, Nsukka, Enugu State.
The Police Public relations officer, PPRO, Enugu State Command headquarters, Daniel Ndukwe in a statement signed and issued to newsmen, said that an investigation into the case suggested that the suspect was part of a group of masqueraders that assaulted the female nurse riding a motorcycle.
He noted that the assault of the female victim was captured in a viral video in April 2024.
It was gathered that suspect, Ugwuoke was arraigned in the Nsukka Magistrate Court of Enugu State, Nigeria, but was granted bail by the court.
Similarly, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, however, condemned the act, and warned those intending to hide under the guise of masquerades to commit such criminal act of assault against fellow citizens to desist forthwith.
He stressed that the Command will not hesitate to bring anyone found wanting to book, just as in the case at hand.
