The Niger State Police Command has announced the deployment of over 5,000 personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, gave the directive as part of efforts to strengthen security before, during, and after the festive period.

He tasked Heads of Departments, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and other tactical units to intensify intelligence-led policing and carry out raids on identified blackspots within their jurisdictions.

According to the Command, operational assets such as anti-riot water cannons, gun trucks, and patrol vehicles have been mobilised to enhance visibility policing and support coordinated show-of-force operations in collaboration with other security agencies.

Monitoring Unit, Crack Squad, Anti-Thuggery Unit, and Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), will be strategically deployed to major Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, amusement parks, and other public places across the state.

In addition, an operational order has been issued to all relevant units, detailing their responsibilities in ensuring effective security coverage, traffic control, and strict adherence to standard operating procedures throughout the celebration.

The Command advised residents to celebrate responsibly and urged parents and guardians to keep close watch over their children and wards. It warned that any form of thuggery or public disorder would not be tolerated, stressing that offenders would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
