NEDC donates dignity kit to vulnerable students in Adamawa

The deputy governor of Adamawa state, Kaletapwa Farauta has reaffirmed government’s commitment to uphold the dignity, health, and well-being of the vulnerable and the entire citizens of the state
Farauta stated this while receiving six hundred dignity kits from the North East Development Commission in collaboration with Ubola rural community foundation for onward distribution to women, boys and girls in the state.
An equality wins program, awareness campaign and distribution, a core humanitarian intervention took place at the government day secondary school Karewa.
The Nations News Nigeria reports that the dignity kits contain sanitary pads, hair cream, sanitary towel, under wears, mats among others, aimed at bringing dignity to the vulnerable.
The deputy governor described the event as significant, which symbolises hope and care to the targeted beneficiaries.
Represented by the commissioner for transport, Wunfe Anthony, she said the government recognises the challenges faced by the people and will never compromise on its desire to protect and promote the rights and dignity of vulnerable citizens, especially women and the girl child.
He emphasized that dignity is a fundamental right and not a privilege, commending NEDC and Ubola for such an important project, and advocated for its sustenance.
The assistant general manager health, North east development commission Dr. Fatima Babari and the executive chairman Ubola rural community foundation Pharmacist Musa Dauda Etubi reiterated its commitment to the wealth, health and well being of the society, noting that the project also serves as a means of economic empowerment for the beneficiaries.
The technical assistant lead URCF, Omede Ogu, sheds more light on the project, explaining that it was initiated to restore dignity and hope among the vulnerable who have faced devastation caused by insurgency in the north east region.
He therefore made a case for a budget line in the state geared towards expansion of the project.
Representing the executive secretary post primary schools management board, the director professional and monitoring services Fadimatu Bello appreciated the donors for their gender sensitivity, acknowledging that sanitary items are very useful, especially to girls
The whole significance of the project is the identification of a boy and girl as goodwill ambassadors for the promotion and propagation of the message of dignity kits beyond their places of learning, including social groups.
