Kosisochukwu Fernandez honoured with exceptional leadership award

The Executive Director of Sustainability Lugo Construction Nigeria Limited, Mr. Kosisochukwu Fernandez Chiama has been honoured with a Certificate of Exceptional Leadership Award by the African Construction Award group for his outstanding achievements in the field of construction, especially in the area of sustainable construction.

The award was presented to him on the 15th of January 2023,at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos Nigeria.

Speaking on Mr. Fernandez Chiama’s nomination for the award, one of the panelists, Adebayo Olamide, of the African Construction Awards, provided an insight into the stringent selection process that led to the recognition of Kosisochukwu Fernandez Chiama.

Olamide emphasized that the African Construction Awards are among the most prestigious accolades in the industry, reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, innovation, and impact.

“The selection process is incredibly thorough,” he said.

“We consider a wide range of factors, including the nominee’s contributions to the industry, their ability to drive innovation, and their commitment to sustainability.”

According to him, the panelists review extensive documentation, including project portfolios, leadership roles, and the measurable impact of the nominee’s work.

“We look for leaders who are not just excelling in their roles but are also setting new standards for the industry,” he explained. “It’s not just about what they have done, but how they’ve done it—their methods, their vision, and their ability to inspire and lead others.”

He applauded Chiama’s innovative contributions to the construction industry, saying Mr. Chiama exemplifies the qualities they seek in awardees.

“His work at Lugo Construction LTD has been transformative. He has successfully integrated sustainable practices into large-scale projects, which not only reduce environmental impact but also set a benchmark for the entire industry.”he said.

Olamide further highlighted Chiama’s excellent leadership in spearheading projects that incorporate eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient designs.

“What really stood out was his commitment to sustainability. In an industry that is often slow to adapt, Chiama has been a driving force in pushing forward eco-friendly practices. His projects demonstrate that sustainability and profitability can go hand in hand,” he noted.

Speaking on the award, he said “the African Construction Awards aim to recognize individuals who are making a substantial impact on the industry and the broader community. Olamide pointed out that Chiama’s work has had far-reaching effects, particularly in promoting sustainable development across Nigeria.
