Just in: police rescue 2 victims, as another 2 storey building collapses in Anambra

Anambra state police command has confirmed the collapse of a two storey building at Ekeoyibo market, Amawbia, near Awka, State capital.
It was gathered that scores were said to have been trapped inside the building, while two victims were rescued by the police at the time of filing this report.
The Nations News Nigeria reports that the affected building housed many shop owners.
It was gathered that this incident took place barely a few weeks ago, that a five storey building collapsed at Dennis Memorial Grammar School, DMGS, premises in Onitsha in which one person lost his life.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP, Tochukwu Ikenga who confirmed the incident, said that “in response to a distress call today at about 12:40 pm of a building collapse at Ekeoyibo market, Amawbia.
“Police Operatives have rescued two victims and taken them to the hospital for medical care.
He stated further that the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations led operatives at the scene for on-the-spot assessment, even as the area has been cordoned off and rescue operations are still ongoing.
