‘I will not fold my hands to watch warlords kill people in war ridden communities in Ebonyi

The governor of Ebonyi State Francis Nwifuru on Wednesday said that he will not fold his hands and watch warlords to continue to kill people in the war ridden communities in the state.

Nwifuru made this known while addressing stakeholders and people of the state during the one year anniversary celebration that took place at the Pa- Ngele Oruta township stadium Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

The governor who said that he is looking for eight years tenure, avowed to give the people of the state good governance and peace.

“As government, we will not fold our hands and watch them destroy the peace of this state, and continue the killings, it can never continue.

“I see the hand of God in all I do, and our vision is to give the people of Ebonyi a focus and qualitative governance. 

“During our campaigns, we promised the people of Ebonyi State good governance, peace, transparency, accountability and to be obident to the role of law” he stated.

He further stated that his administration 

is poised to produce not less than 5,000 Masters and Doctorate Degree holders before 2031.

Nwifuru noted that 300 out of the 1,000 beneficiaries of the scholarship program would soon depart from Nigeria to countries of their choice for the Masters and Doctorate Degree studies.

“We sponsored our stakeholders in education to undertake a tour of University of Salford, University of Rwanda and other Universities in Germany to understudy their policies and programs for replication in our tertiary institutions, increase of the University’s monthly subvention, from 200 million monthly to 280 Millon Naira monthly, same Ebonyi State College of Education.”

“Besides the declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector when I was sworn in, we have decided to establish model 3 schools in each of the 13 local government areas in the state. 

“Our intention is to deploy beneficiaries of our post graduate scholarship scheme to teach in our model primary and secondary schools. Their renumeration will be the same as their counterparts in tertiary institutions. We will ensure that all the public schools are properly repositioned to compete and overtake private schools within the next two years. 

“We placed a premium on the provision of conducive environment for our children and wards. As I speak we have concluded modalities to not only renovate but also reconstruct all public schools fitted with modern buildings, furniture, halls, and modern toilet facilities across the three senatorial districts of our dear state.” He added.
