Ebonyi can’t be taken over by non state actors – Abakaliki council boss, Nwogba vows

……vows to join forces with police to clampdown on the killers of officers
The chairman of Abakaliki local government area, Mr. Stephen Ebere Nwogba has vowed to join forces with the Ebonyi State Police Command, led by CP. Augustina Ogbodo to clampdown on the killers of four officers and two female along Hilltop road.
Nwogba who spoke to newsmen in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State, condemned in totality the continuous attacks and killings of officers by unknown gunmen, especially along that hilltop road.
He said that there is no security issues in Abakaliki local government area, except only one flash point, the hilltop road where unknown gunmen had attacked and killed some police officers.
According to him: “no security issues in Abakaliki LGA, except one flash point at along hilltop road near Ebya bridge, where they have police checkpoint. There was an attack some time ago that claimed the lives of some Nigeria police officers.
“And another attack and killings happened again, around 5:00am in the morning. I condemn that attack and killings of those police officers in it’s totality. It is very barbaric for non state actors to overwhelm the situation the way it is. Not withstanding, police repealed them which resulted to one of them going down.
“We are trailing them to make sure that those hoodlums that carried out that dastard act is brought to book to serve as a deterrent to others, because we can’t allow our state, from our local government area, to be taken over by the non state actors, it is not allowed. We have outlined some measures to carry out this. And you will hear the results very soon.
Nwogba however called on police, DSS, military, Civil defense, and other security agencies in the state, to create a joint check point at the hilltop road near Ebya bridge to avert further attacks and killings by the unknown gunmen.
“I equally want to encourage the security agencies to create a joint check point there, especially the Police and the military. This will help to enhance the effectiveness of policing and protecting lives and properties of the people of the state.
“Apart from the pockets of the security issues there, Ebonyi State should be considered as the most peaceful State in Nigeria. This is because there are states, you will go, you can’t even sleep with your two eyes closed. But here in Ebonyi, you can be rest assured that you are secured, if not because of this hoodlums that struck few days ago in that area. It has been peaceful.
“We will continue to do our best to make sure that peace is restored, and that everywhere and everybody is secured in the state, especially in the capital city Abakaliki, where people from all over the country resides” he stated.
