Cult war: 15 killed as 2 cult groups clash in Anambra community

It was a black Sunday at Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State as two rival cult groups engaged themselves in a bloody clash that resulted in about 15 people being killed.
Consequently, palpable fear gripped residents of the area as corpses of the slain victims littered the scene of the incident even as those who sustained various degrees of injuries were reportedly rushed to undisclosed hospitals where they were said to have been placed on danger list.
An eye witness who pleaded anonymity disclosed that, “, I counted 15 dead bodies, those that were injured were many and I know that they were rushed to different hospitals. I have not seen this type of cult war where guns and machetes were freely used,” he stated
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, (CSP), said that, “The Command is aware of a suspected cult-related clash today 20/10/2024 in Nibo, Awka South LG and the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam has ordered for immediate deployment of additional operatives to the area for necessary action.
“Preliminary reports of the incidents are still sketchy as the Command calls on the witnesses of this incident to volunteer information that will help to identify the perpetrators for possible arrest. Be assured that information sent in this regard shall be treated with utmost confidentiality” he stated.
