C’River Govt. vows to fight against hunger, unveils Agritourism Festival

In a bid to build strong food system and to strengthen resilience on the fight against hunger in the state, cross river agritourism festival and international expo has been launched in the state with the theme; ”Harmonizing Agriculture, Art, Culture and Tourism for Sustainable Development”
Unveiling the new event in the state tourism calendar in Calabar, the commissioner for tourism, art and culture, Abubakar Ewa said 90% of tourism event today is agriculture base, citing example of the new yam festivals, fishing festivals and many other food festivals across the country
“The event launched today is a new agenda in the tourism event calendar of the State and it will boost agriculture in the state State”
He maintained that the program will attract people and tourists alike to the state for different agricultural event when it is fully operational.
It was also disclosed that by August this year, the state will play host to two big agritourism event, the Leboku yam festival in Ugep, Yakurr local government Area and the maiden Cassava festival in Boki local Government Area, all in the central district of the State.

He called on cross Riverian to key into the project, stressing that it is going to grow both agriculture and tourism in the state
He lauded the organizers of the event for their brilliant initiative
Earlier in his remarks, the chairman of Asurock Integrated Services Mr. Asu Abang said the festival is a testament to the collective efforts to promote sustainable practices, support local farmers and entrepreneurs, and foster growth opportunities for all.
He maintained that through the festival, the people would harness the rich agricultural and tourism potentials of cross river state noting that CRATFEX is not just a festival, but a celebration of heritage, and a showcase of the boundless opportunities that lie within the fusion of agriculture and tourism.
