From Attah Ede, Makurdi
The stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Benue state on Tuesday passed vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he marked one year in office.
The stakeholders who equally organized prayer sessions for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, said he will continue to deliver on his mandate to Nigerians.
The prayers, which were held at a chapel located at the premises of Senator George Akume, Makurdi, was attended by Bishops, party executives, party leaders, elder statesmen and party supporters.
After the prayer session, elders of the party, unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the two Nigerian leaders for their purposeful and quality leadership.
The motion for the vote of confidence, which was moved by Elder Ama Abai and seconded by Elder John Enyi, was also extended to the state APC Chairman, Comrade Austin Agada whom they described as a loyal and true party man.
The state APC chairman, Austin Agada who spoke at the event, stated that they organized the prayer session after they met with the SGF in Abuja recently where he requested them to continue to pray for him, Mr President and other leaders of the country.
“For us, it is a prayer to support our leaders especially in this critical time that we have found ourselves especially with the economic, security situations and recently, with the labour.
“We believe that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing his best to put the nation on the pedestal of greatness and we pray that he succeeds so that Nigeria and Nigerians would experience speedy progress.
“Mr President has been gracious to Benue people through his numerous appointments of Benue sons and daughters. So anyone writing petitions to say that Benue has not been well accommodated in the scheme of things is only lying.” It states.
Earlier at the sessions, men of God including Bishop Peanut Ogbaji, Bishop John Alli among others took turns to pray for peace, unity and progress of Nigeria, Benue state and the state APC.
They also prayed for leaders of the National and state assembly and called for an end to all the torments and killings going on in Benue and across the country.
The APC Woman leader, Mrs Nancy Torhee who noted that the APC in Benue has not had any leader like Senator George Akume thanked God for his life and pledged that they will continue to pray for wisdom and God’s protection upon him so that he will not only succeed in his assignment but will also continue to shine wherever he goes.
Responding, the party chairmen, Simeon Yongo from Vandeikya LG pledged to continue to support the APC all the way saying, “God has a reason for whatever that is playing out in our party in the state.”
He however described Senator Akume as a man of peace and pledged total support of the LG party chairmen to ensure that the party remains one united family in the state.
