The Bishop of Anglican Communion, Anambra State, Rt Rev. Owen Nwokolo, Wednesday lamented that bad people assisted to worsen the present unhealthy socio-economic and political condition of Nigerian by their devilish advice to Nigerian leaders.

According to him, naivety, lack of sense of responsibility and direction of most leaders in the country are compounded by the presence of bad advisers and false prophets with whom he said the big men surrounded themselves.

Bishop Nwokolo made the observation in the homily he said Wednesday, during a weekly church service at the Calvary Chapel, Episcopal House, GRA, Onitsha.

He wondered the rationale for which leaders and prominent people had to justify the said long list of ill-advisers around them, saying that most of the leaders faulted as a result of bad and ungodly counseling by disingenuous individuals.

“It, in fact, staggers the imagination as to why most of our leaders and prominent persons today surround themselves with bad advisers and false prophets knowing the after effects of such counsels”, he said.

He challenged leaders at all levels to strive to engage God-fearing, morally and ethically sound counselors for result-oriented pieces of advice for the good of all.

In the sermon which theme he tagged, “Power in the word of God”, Bishop Nwokolo remarked that there was nothing one could do to stop the Word of God.

Explaining that several unsuccessful attempts had been made to destroy the Word of God, he warned that God does not spare those who fight His Word.

While advising that people should instead embrace God, he implored that one should always fortify oneself with the Word of God, assuring, “There’s nothing the devil can do to you. You will always be a winner”.

He said that God has made his Word as a way through which humanity could know the Divine promises and for it to appropriate the promises for its own good.

“Therefore, I urge you to preach the Word of God in and out of season, it is for all occasions within time and space. So, where ever you go, preach the Word. Do not allow false prophets to have an edge over you”, the bishop encouraged christian faithful.
