The Onitsha unit coordinator of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (Ocha Brigade), Mr Ejike Odife, has read the riot act to personnel of the unit stating that no bad eggs will be spared in the para military outfit.
Sounding the note of warning during parade by the personnel he urged the officers and men to maintain high discipline in the course of discharging their duties reminding them that they should diligently operate without fear or favour.
Mr Odife whose bit covers Borromeo round-about, Upper Iweka axis and Niger Bridge Head approach, Ogbaru Local Government Area and Owerri road, disclosed that every Monday has been earmarked as period of parade, lecture interaction amongst his men to ensure discipline when in the field.
He however expressed satisfaction with the performance of his men in dealing with the public and attributed it to the parade and lecture held weekly stating that as an agency in charge of clamping down on defaulters of environmental law, that it is pertinent for the field staff to be well updated on the dos and don’ts involved in their duties.
His words, “The essence of the parade is to lecture and educate our staff on how to handle human beings as well as inculcate discipline in them. So, we choose to have our parade usually every Monday sit-at-home to enable all our men to participate. We lecture them on the dos and don’ts involved in the agency because without lecture, some of them would misbehave.
“But once they are trained and keep abreast of their duties, they would perform well as well as serve the public better,” he noted.
He explained further that apart from discipline, dos and don’ts in the agency, parade also enhanced physical fitness and provided body exercise which according to him improved mental and healthy being of his men.
The coordinator lauded his staff for their high level of professionalism in their duties, attributing it to lectures they receive before moving into the field.
“At least, they will be able to understand that defaulters are human beings like them, not animals. So far I must commend them and I will award them 80 per cent in their performance.
“Although there may be bad eggs in every profession, in Ocha brigade, when we spot bad eggs, we warn them, but if they don’t turn a new leaf, we dismiss them, “he added.
Mr Odife used the opportunity to appreciate the state Governor, Prof Charles Soludo in his recent birthday, praying to God to grant him long life and good health, just as he explained that Prof Soludo within two years in office had performed more than any other Governor across the country.
He equally eulogized the State Director of Ocha Brigade, Celestine Anere who he described as a great man and no nonsense disciplinarian, disclosing that since he assumed office as head of the agency in the state, he had transformed the agency by introducing new innovations.
“Chief Anere through his dynamic leadership attracted vehicles for the agency which he said made their work easy, praying God to bless Chief Anere and grant him long life and good health to enable him assist in getting the state to the next level.
