After 30yrs, C’River govt. to complete Adiabo-Eseku road in 18 months– Edet

The Cross River State Commissioner for works, Ankpo Pius Edet has reiterated the committed efforts of the state government to complete Adiabo-Eseku road in the next 18 months.

The Nations News Nigeria reports that Adiabo-Eseku road was abandoned since 30 years ago by previous administrations in the state.

Edet made this known while speaking with newsmen in his office, on the activities of his ministry to mark the one year anniversary of the present administration led by Governor Bassey Otu

He said that Adiabo-Eseku road was initiated during the military era of late General Sani Abacha with Etubom Anthony Ani as the Minister for Finance, about thirty years ago would be completed in the next 18 months by governor, Otu’s led administration.

Ankpo said, “the construction of Adiabo-Eseku road which was initiated by the military in the 90’s had since been abandoned from that time till the now, no successive Government in the country has visited the project”

“But today, Governor Bassey Otu is not looking at it as a Federal project, he has undertaken that responsibility of competing that project because, when completed, it will boost the the economy of the State, that is why work has began there in ernest” Ankpo stated.

The works commissioner stated further that the state has done a lot of interventions and is currently embarking on massive road construction in Calabar, the State Capital and across all the Senatorial district of the state

In the south, he said a lot is going on citing Nyong Edem that was abandoned for so many years, but is today constructed with a concrete pavement technology borrowed from Ebonyi State and will stand the taste of time, adding that this also has been replicated at the Efio-ette roundabout

Edet stressed that contract have been awarded for the construction of roads in the central and the northern districts of the State, “we have awarded contract for the construction of network of roads in Ogoja”, he continued, “we have also awarded contract for the construction of Akriya road in Yala and Akriya bridge that was abandoned “He said.

The commissioner, Edet stated that the administration has done a lot in the area of infrastructural development and promised that more will be done.

He said they are also doing some road construction in Ikom and Ugep all in the Central district of the State.
