“Everyone knows that one of the big things I have put before me since joining the Senate in 2019 is free medical treatment for the people of my constituency, and that is what we have been known for. But the beneficiaries are not just restricted to the people of my constituency—people come from outside the state,” the senator stated.

He expressed satisfaction with the overwhelming turnout and noted that the positive feedback from patients made the outreach worthwhile.

Responding, one of the patients, Joy Hazeil who after a successful cesarean section, expressed gratitude to the Senator for the free treatment given to her,  which she added that it enabled her to deliver a healthy baby girl.

Another, Polycap Jadiel, 59yrs who suffered from partial stroke for over a decade, recounted how the outreach gave him a new lease on life.

Michael Misauno Aidima, who led the medical team, reflected on the impact of the outreach. “In three days, our 60-member team treated over 10,000 patients, including 2,000 eye-related cases, of which 250 cataract surgeries were performed, and 950 patients received glasses. We also carried out 350 surgeries, including 50 major operations,” he revealed.

He revealed that the peculiarity of this very outreach is their ability to touch on two new major surgeries they’ve not done before due to its complexity such as goiters and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), handled thanks to the expertise of anesthesiologists.

“We had a lot of patients with swellings on their necks we call them goiters they are usually cases that we not in a hurry to touch but luckily we had competent set of doctors we call anesthetics that are ready to take on any eventuality in the theater and with their help we were able to do those goiters. Also benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) those who were unable to pass urine we were able to do .
