Bauchi commissioner, Katagum warns citizens to desist from erecting houses under high tension cable

The Bauchi State Commissioner for land and survey, Hajiya Amina Mohammad Katagum on Tuesday urged people to desist from building houses under high tension in order to save their lives and properties.

Katagum gave the charge during the ministerial press briefing at the state secretariat, Bauchi State.

She said that building houses under high tension is very risky because if the cable cut will definitely burn down everything in the house or shop.

The commissioner said that the ministry of land and survey is saddled with the responsibilities for the formulation and execution of government policies on land matters aimed at befitting the environment for the citizens.

According to her: “Issuance of permits along road corridors, green areas, rights of way, utility areas or setbacks in the state by any of the ministries or parastatals and local government councils is banned and prohibited”

“Henceforth, all illegal structures constructed in the places aforementioned shall be removed by the state Urban Planning and Development Control Board, and Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) or any tax force that may be constituted by the state government”

She said that any offences committed pursuant to that shall be trial by the established Mobile Court of the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency BASEPA.

The commissioner also advised the people to stop buying plots of land anyhow in order to avoid problems in the state.

“If two people have double certificate in a single land and comes to our table, we use equipment’s to dictate which one original and fake so that we can clarified them in order to know their stand” She stressed.
