Biafran heroes day: Banks, schools, businesses shutdown in Enugu.

Banks, schools, markets, businesses were totally shut down in Enugu on 30th may 2024 in compliance with the sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, to honour the heroes that was killed during the war.

Our correspondent who moved around the metropolis of Enugu, reports that few vehicles were spotted moving around.

Also, transport companies conveying passengers to different states and cities in Nigeria, equally shutdown their depots.

The Nations News Nigeria reports that only the civil servants in the states were seen working in their various offices in compliance with the Enugu State government who warned against abscondment from work.

Recall that governor Peter Mbah’s led administration, few days ago, allegedly threatened to sack workers that abscond from work as a result of the sit-at-home.

Enugu state government insisted that it did not declare public holidays and as such, civil servants should come to work.

The government also urged private business owners and transporters to go to their business because of the secondary School students that will be writing their WAEC exams on the same date.

Mrs Alice Mba working with the board of internal revenue speaking with our correspondent on how she got a vehicle to her office said that she did not find it difficult to come to work because she has her private car.

Another civil servant working with ministry of health, Mr Ikechukwu Eze told our correspondent that he spent 45 minutes on the bus stop waiting for bus before he was able to board a vehicle that conveyed him from Agbani road to the state Secretariat.
